This photography project aims to encourage gender fluidity in society by rejecting gender constructs. Each photograph is part of a series that shows men dressed in feminine clothes. I was interested in exploring whether the male models would agree to take such photos and I have to say I wasn’t expecting them to say yes, and what was more shocking was how comfortable they were after talking with them. After doing this project, I realized that some men are attracted to female activities subconsciously and hide it because they have been told not to.
I know that not all people will like my photos. Some will reject them and think they are disgusting, some will laugh, and some will insult the guys.
But remember, gender roles are socially constructed. You think the way you think because society conditioned you to think that way. As Ian McEwan said in “The Cement Garden”, “Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short and wear shirts and boots because it's okay to be a boy; for girls it's like promotion. But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because secretly you believe that being a girl is degrading.”
