I’ve tried different types of photography; I took photos of strangers and I enjoyed this experience. I also photographed children, buildings and animals but I never thought about self portrait. At first, the beginning of the project, I thought it is probably the easier type of photography since it doesn’t involved dealing with anything but myself and the camera. However, I was mistaken; the more I got in depth with the project the more I realized that self portrait is not just about photographing myself, it is about how I want to present myself to people who will later see my photographs. This project made me become more interest in obtaining a better understanding and exploration of myself. It brought me a step closer to self awareness since it enabled me to look at myself the way other people looks at me or , to be more specific, as I wish to be seen. Another thing was that since I am the object who is being photographed, I have full control over my posture, the frame and my facial expressions. This actually gave me few insights on how I will instruct people later on when I photograph them, how I will represent them and how I will represent anything else other than humans. Overall, it was a really got experience and I think that the more images, of different style, I take the more I get attached to photography.
